Job Title: Licensed Funeral Director
Location: Darlington Cremation and Burial Service in Kalispell, Montana.
Position Type: Full-Time, On-Call
Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and licensed Funeral Director in Montana to join our dedicated team. This role will focus on meeting with families, conducting transfers, and providing on-call support to ensure that every family we serve receives exceptional care and respect during their time of need. This position is suited to someone with a strong commitment to professionalism and a genuine desire to serve families with sensitivity and empathy.
Responsibilities
Family Meetings and Arrangements
Meet with families to arrange funeral and memorial services that reflect each loved one’s life and legacy.
Guide families through service options, including burial, cremation, and memorial choices, helping them make informed decisions.
Complete all necessary paperwork and documents, such as death certificates, permits, and authorizations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
Funeral Services & Ceremony Oversight
Coordinate and direct funeral services, ensuring all elements are carried out seamlessly and according to the family's wishes.
Oversee or assist with preparations for visitations, viewings, and ceremonies, ensuring that each service reflects the family’s wishes with dignity and respect.
Transfer and Transport Duties
Conduct transfers from the place of death (hospitals, residences, nursing facilities) to the funeral home, ensuring that the transfer process is conducted with respect and care.
Maintain professionalism and sensitivity in interactions with families and healthcare professionals during transfers.
On-Call Responsibilities
Be available on an on-call schedule basis to respond to service needs promptly, including after-hours transfers and family support.
Ensure timely response and presence at the funeral home, hospitals, or other locations as required.
Community and Client Family Support
Offer supportive guidance to families, demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding.
Represent the funeral home in a professional manner, fostering a trusted relationship with families, community members, and healthcare providers.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Licensed Funeral Director in the state of Montana (or ability to obtain Montana licensure).
At least 5 years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director (preferred, but not required).
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a commitment to compassionate service.
Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, such as transfers and lifting, with appropriate care.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, EDRS, arrangement documents and standard business and accounting practices.
Availability:
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including being on call for nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Wilderness Funeral Homes is seeking an office manager/ crematory tech. Will train and pay for licensing on crematory tech, no previous experience necessary. We are looking for someone professional, organized, and well-mannered. Motivated, and able to keep busy when things are slow.
Job Description- You will be working in the office for the form 10:00am to 4:00pm, Working with families on various funeral needs. You’ll be on call every other weekend for removals, and operating the Crematory.

Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point is located in the northeastern part of Montana, about an hour drive on Hwy 2, from the North Dakota border.
We are looking for two part time Funeral Assistants. Please note, this is a job posting for Assistants only at this time, not for a Licensed position.
Job duties include:
Assistance on funerals
Transport of remains to and from locations
Removal of remains from place of death
Help maintain facility and vehicles

Bullis Mortuary is seeking a full time Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer or a Mortician Intern. Bullis Mortuary is a full-service mortuary serving the Crow Indian Reservation and Big Horn County Montana. The mortuary is located in Hardin, Montana about 50 miles from Billings, Montana on I-90. We currently have two licensed funeral directors and three office staff and removal personnel. This is a great opportunity for an intern or a new graduate to learn all aspects of funeral service. The Bullis Mortuary was established in 1914 and has been owned by the Bullis family for 107 years.
Mortician Responsibilities:
Meeting with families
Helping families plan services
Embalming and preparing bodies
Directing funerals
Driving hearse and removal vehicles
Coordinating with clergy and cemetery personnel
Mortician Requirements:
An associate degree in funeral service or mortuary science program accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education

The Mortician will provide clients with counsel and comfort. Mortician Requirements:
Associate degree in mortuary science from an accredited mortuary school as accepted by the State of Montana.
Valid state licensure as a Mortician in Montana or the ability to reciprocate another state’s license under Montana standards.
1+ years’ work experience as Mortician.
Willingness to be licensed as a crematory technician.
Valid driver’s license with an insurable driver history.
Proficient knowledge of various religions, cultures and customs.
Outstanding communication skills.
Excellent people skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to focus for extended periods.
Physically strong and dexterous. Must be able to lift 75 pounds from different positions.
