About MFDA
In 1901, E. L. Flaherty, an early day Helena funeral director, along with several of his colleagues including J.A. McCallister of Great Falls, Jacob Opp of Helena, Wade George of Great Falls, Charles Marsh of Missoula and George Safely of Bozeman entertained the idea of forming an organization which would serve to advance the professionalism and quality of service they could provide to the families of Montana. So, began the Montana Funeral Directors Association in a fairly new western state with newly founded and still-developing towns and cities.
Over one hundred years later as the Montana has grown into the twenty-first century, the Montana Funeral Directors Association has grown with it and includes a membership of over fifty-five funeral service firms which now serve the communities both large and small of the Big Sky Country. The mission and purpose remain the same the on-going process of professionalism development to learn to serve our families of Montana in new and better ways.
We are the Montana Funeral Directors Association whose member firms continue to offer the best of service and answer to our communities’ needs including funeral, memorials, and cremation service.
